Typhoid Prevention
Typhoid fever is a highly contagious bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi. It is most common in areas of the world where there are poor standards of hygiene and limited access to clean water. It is thought that there are 21 million cases each year of typhoid and the majority of cases occur in Asia, Africa and Latin/South America.
Typhoid fever causes fever, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, constipation or diarrhoea, and can lead to intestinal perforation and meningitis which can be fatal.
There is currently a national shortage of the oral capsules. Do not wait to be protected, opt for the typhoid vaccine in the meantime.
