Who is eligible for an NHS flu vaccination?
For the 2026/27 season, NHS eligibility includes the nationally specified groups. These include:
- People aged 65 years and over
- Adults aged 18 to under 65 years in eligible clinical risk groups
- Pregnant women
- People living in long-stay residential care homes
- Eligible carers
- Eligible children under the national children’s programme

Private flu vaccinations
If you are not eligible for an NHS flu vaccination, a private flu vaccination may be available subject to age, vaccine suitability, stock and clinical assessment. Contact us for current availability and price.
Flu vaccination for children
The 2026/27 programme expanded community pharmacy participation in childhood flu vaccination. Community pharmacies can vaccinate eligible 2- and 3-year-olds and children in clinical risk groups from 1 October, in addition to the existing school and general practice pathways.

Can I have a flu vaccination if I am unwell?
Minor illness does not always prevent vaccination, but if you are acutely unwell or have a fever, vaccination may need to be delayed. The vaccinator will assess this at the time.
How long does the programme run?
The NHS flu programme continues through the winter season, with the national programme running until 31 March 2027.
